Here’s our little Bodi-O with one of his Christmas toys, “Poochie”. Bodi loves Poochie… he likes to carry him around the house, like a little kid with his favorite stuffed animal!

Bodi snuggling with Poochie

Bodi was so cute at Christmas time… he loved opening up his gifts, just like Tucker used to do. And he was thrilled to have his own toys to play with. Even though he inherited all of Tuck’s toys, he did not want to play with them, after Tucker passed away. It was kind of strange… but maybe it was out of respect for Tuck.. I’m not sure on that one.

But as you can clearly see here… Bodi is very fond of Poochie! He loves to snuggle up with him and I think it is so cute the way he wraps his legs around him… as if he does not want to let him go.

Bodi snuggling with Poochie

I think that Bodi finds great comfort in Poochie… maybe he is thinking about his big brother Tuck… when he gives Poochie that extra hug and squeeze!!

Isn’t he just the cutest?!!! Love our little Bodi!

This was Bodi’s first trip to the Christmas Tree Farm (with us)… a tradition that we had shared with Tucker for 12 blissful years! It was emotional.. to say the least.. as we had always had the Tuckman with us.

As we pulled into the tree farm parking lot… an overwhelming feeling of joy and warmth and happiness as well as sorrow and sadness had filled us both. As the tears began to well up in our eyes, I said to Jim… “I can just see Tucker, running through the Christmas trees.. helping us in our quest to find the perfect tree”!

Our little Bodi was thrilled to be a part of this tradition! He had a blast at the Christmas tree farm.. and didn’t pee on any trees!!

Bodi and Daddy and the Christmas tree

As you can see… Bodi O thoroughly enjoyed posing with his Daddy. So proud of that Christmas tree …that would soon be home, all decorated and filled with presents for Bodi!! Life is good!

What a happy (and very lucky) puppy this is! Bodi is awesome and we feel very fortunate to have him in our lives. He is now a huge part of everything we do.

This time of year… is a time to reflect.. and a time to celebrate the good in our lives. And it is a time to be so very thankful for what we have today… including sweet memories of a loved one lost. Even though that loved one has left this life, their sweet, beautiful soul will remain in our hearts forever!

This was our first real “Holiday” with Bodi, and consequently, our first real “Holiday” without the Tuckster in a long time.

Bodi was great, primed him for all the kids that were going to show up, waited, and waited, and no kids came by our neighborhood at all. So we enjoyed our little Halloween decorations, and enjoyed our boy – next year, we dress him up and go out for the hunt – all little kids BEWARE!!!

Has anybody else noticed this… You go out and spend hours picking just the right toy for your four legged kids, you spend a fortune to buy some toy with “Made in China” on it that lasts for half a day at most, you show everyone how cute the toy is and you revel in the idea that your “kids” are going to love it… and in reality all you had to do was roll up a piece of trash, toss an old sock, or… put a new roll of toilet paper on the holder, and you had the best toy that your kids could possibly want.

We all roll our eyes, laugh at the stupidity of the animal in front of us, and go back to trying to figure out how we could have spent so much money at the holidays!!!

Now, I ask you, which breed here is the stupid one? Which one of us needs to have our heads examined and be “rehabilitated”?

Tucker loved the paper rolls, you could toss it on the floor up in the third story bathroom and he would come flying up the stairs from the first floor to attack the toilet paper monster, he would carry around his prize kill until all had a chance to see, and then he would lay down and tear it to pieces. We loved to watch him, he loved the show as well, and still 2 months after his passing we find ourselves throwing the roll on the floor and waiting for the storm to come.

This is one of the traits that Bodi didn’t pick up from Tucker, he will just watch it hit the floor and walk away, wondering what all the fuss was about a stupid toilet paper roll, and then he’ll casually pick up Nancy’s bra and walk away with it, with that gleam in his eye, swearing that there is no way he is going to let this unholy monster get to us… and all of his new toys that we were dumb enough to bring home for him…

Last year we took Tucker with us to the Wooden Boat show up at Lake Arrowhead, we had planned on just going there for the day, but as it turned out – we were so beat from the day in the sun and getting up early to get there that we found a place that allowed us to have Tucker there and just stayed the night – made it a 2 day affair, instead of trying to squeeze it into 1 day.

Tucker was, as usual, in heaven spending the day out with us. We had never taken him to Arrowhead and he had a great time socializing with all of the people and the other dogs that were there.

We took him to the waters edge and laughed as he stepped out on the rocks and into the water. It’s surprising how big the waves can get there with the boats going around, even though they are keeping to a fairly low speed around the docks. We got him out into the hills and the trees a little as well, so he got a bit of everything a good dog loves.

The (for us) biggest laugh of the day came when we took Tucker out onto the dock when we were going to see the boats. He was fine, came strolling out without a care in the world… Until he realized that the dock was moving up and down with the waves, and all four paws went out as far as they could as his stomach hit the dock. I could barely move him from where he was to try to get him back on solid ground. Since it was a fairly busy show – everyone got a good laugh out of the show that Tucker put on, although many of them felt sorry for him once they saw the fear in his eyes. Back on the solid ground he was right back to being his happy -go-lucky self and the life of the party, but for a few short minutes I am sure that he was wondering what had happened to his world.

Tucker has this thing about sand that we have always played off of, and we love dearly. He doesn’t ever dig in the yard, never tries to dig anything in the house, has really never even harmed anything in the house, but if you get him into a sandbox, playground with sand, or the beach, and he goes nuts, he dances around in out, digging and kicking the sand up in the air, we laugh at him and try to egg him on, but he doesn’t need any coaxing, he just loves to get in there and play. Luckily this hasn’t caused any other problems with him at home, so we let him go for it. As you could probably imagine, there is plenty of sand up at Arrowhead, whether at the waters edge, or in the playgrounds around the area Tucker tried his best to hit all of them… and we tried our best to laugh every time – someone has to.

The place we stayed at was a beautiful 2 story with a kitchen, so Tucker had the run of the place while we were there, up the stairs, onto the bed, back downstairs and onto the sofa, making sure to never get too far out of our site. Since we weren’t planning on staying the night we really didn’t bring enough food for Tuck, but he didn’t seem to mind eating what we were having, although we kept his intake of Pizza to a minimum.

As you can see from the pics, Tuck was at just about his heaviest at this time – for him 75 lbs. is pretty heavy, our vet got on our case about letting him get this big, especially at his age, so we have worked with him to get his weight down to 60 lbs. which seems to be pretty good for him, possibly just a little too low, but he is really looking good now – unlike how he did in these pics, when if he sat down he actually had a tummy, which is something Tucker never had before, or since, and no cracks about my tummy, I’m working on that too.
